Pirastro P214331 violin string D-3 soft (16 1/2), gut core, aluminum

The Pirastro P214331 D-3 soft (16 1/2) is a gut core violin string with aluminum winding. This combination produces a warm, full tone with clear mids and an organic response, while the aluminum winding provides stability and durability without making the tone heavy. The "soft" designation refers to the lower tension, which allows for smooth bow entry and fine dynamics in various playing styles.

In terms of playing feel, this string emulates a natural, expressive character particularly evident in chamber music and romantic repertoires. The gut core imparts warmth and brilliance, while the aluminum winding protects against wear and is less sensitive to slight temperature changes. For violinists seeking subtle yet clear projection without the need for heavy tension, the P214331 D-3 soft is a well-balanced choice.
