Thomastik Infeld THDP-03 violin string D-3 4/4 medium, synthetic core, aluminium wound

The Thomastik Infeld THDP-03 D-3 4/4 medium features a slightly wider D string in a synthetic core with aluminum winding. This combination offers stability in tone and intonation, while the thicker diameter adds a full, mean midrange and extra resonance that excels in classical and crossover styles. The synthetic core feel provides a consistent playing experience across various bow techniques and playing approaches, without sacrificing response or feel.

Especially suited to violinists who prefer a richer, more direct playing feel, these aluminum-wound D-strings offer a distinctly different approach than thinner-wound options. The THDP-03 is closer in tone and feel to its silver-wound counterparts, but with a slightly coarser bow noise and a more aggressive, bolder, and more pronounced, clarity, and projection. If you prefer a thicker D string that adds weight and sustain without sacrificing balance with the A and G strings, this is the choice for you.
